Border Roads Organisation (BRO) remains a vital pillar in India’s strategic infrastructure development. Undeterred by extreme weather, rugged terrains, high altitudes and logistical challenges, BRO continues to enhance operational preparedness and promote socio-economic progress in some of the Nation’s most remote and inaccessible regions.

Projects such as the Sela Tunnel, Saser Brangsa Bridge, Mudh Nyoma Airfield, Shinkhun La Tunnel and the Arunachal Frontier Highway exemplify BRO’s engineering prowess and strategic foresight. The unwavering commitment of its personnel is evident in their sustained efforts on the Nimmu–Padam–Darcha Road, even through the harshest winter months.

BRO has been proactive in adopting transformative changes and reforms which has fast tracked its pace of infrastructure development. BRO has ramped up its equipment status by replacing 27 % of its fleet with new stateoftheart equipment. Guided by government policy directives BRO has significantly increased its capacity through focussed impetus on EPC mode of execution. DPR preparation has also been improved significantly through use of new technologies and streamlined processes. The introduction of modular bridges in collaboration with GRSE has further enhanced both speed and efficiency. These measures have led to surge in pace of construction wherein over the past three years, BRO has completed 304 infrastructure projects that include 82 roads, 208 bridges, two tunnels and 12 other works at a cost of ₹9,576 crore.

Its swift response during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, such as the GLOF in Sikkim and the Silkyara Tunnel rescue in Uttarakhand highlights BRO’s readiness and steadfast dedication to National service.
